Day at the Capitol Huge Success

Yesterday's "Day at the Capitol" held by Eagle Forum was met with huge success and the attendance of over 65 Eagle Forum supporters, youth to seniors. The morning began with a teaching session by Sen. Grothman's staff that walked the group through the different stages of a bill and explained the importance of lobbying. Sen. Grothman, 20th Senate District, surprised the group with his arms full of Racine Danish Kringles, and welcomed questions and answers before heading off to a Senate Education Committee hearing.

The group attended the same hearing which encompassed two bills, one of which was AB25. You can read about this hearing by CLICKING HERE. This was followed by a tour of the Capitol and a delicious lunch prepared by Eagle Forum vice president, Joan Tatarsky, and other EF leaders and attendees.

The afternoon session of the "Day at the Capitol" began with two informational sessions. Eagle Forum of Washington County president, Ginny Maziarka, discussed AB458/SB324, the Healthy Youth Act (sex ed bill), while Eagle Forum of Wisconsin president, Dottie Feder, shared information concerning opting out of the governmental health care reform.

Representative Rich Zipperer, 98th Assembly District, spoke to the group and fielded a large number of questions that ranged from financial issues to personal insight for the next year.

The afternoon was wrapped up with time spent writing letters of opinion concerning specific bills in the legislature, then hand-delivering to offices within the Capitol.
