Thank you for your calls and emails to your Senators opposing cloture on the Defense Authorization bill. Cloture failed 56-43.
Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-NV, voted against cloture so that it can be brought up again in the Lame Duck session after the election. His action underscores the plausibility that the three non-germane amendments that would have
- forced taxpayers to pay for abortions on military bases
- provided amnesty to millions of illegal aliens (the Dream Act)
- undermined military readiness by repealing Congress’ 1993 law concerning homosexuals (Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell),
was a political ploy meant to motivate the Democratic base.
Please THANK your Senators who voted “Nay” on cloture on the
Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2011 (S.3454).
